We were very satisfied with the range of food items. you can read about in another review! I could not fault the breakfast. We reserved a table at a near by (faux) Italian restaurant which. Unfortunately, we did not take up the kind offer to have our dinner in the hotel. I had a good laugh and conversation with the bloke on the reception about feeling 'drunk' walking down the corridor. The original slant of the flooring is still present. It's an old building which has been refurbished. I thought I was taking a turn as I walked down the corridor as I felt I was 'leaning'.

Our child was happy with the smart TV and could watch cartoons on YouTube while we got ready to go out. The room and bathroom were an incredible high standard. So many times in hotels you lose the seating area which is used up for a child's bed. The main difference was it was only half of the couch and left another half for sitting in. The couch transformed into a bed for our young son.
There was free parking out in the streets in the surrounding area but for ease and comfort with bags and a child it seemed the better option. We took up the offer of the secure hotel car park (around the side streets to the back of the hotel) which cost 12 euros. Thankfully, the young man was very attentive and on seeing me, he approached. When you arrive you have toucan the area for someone who looks like a member of staff. I'm not sure about this recent Accor Hotel chain policy of doing away with reception desks and have the reception staff just lingering in the bar area. When it popped up on the Accor website I thought let's give it a go. This Mercure is recently opened in last 18 months or so.

We were heading back to Calais and our usual hotel was full so we decided to stop off here and take a leisurely drive to the ferry the next day. When you've visited it once before then there is not really any reason to return. There is not much to see or do in St Omer itself.
